BANANA DOSA


Banana-dosa


Relish this awesome combination of banana and dosa batter 


INGREDIENTS

  • All purpose flour (maida) :- 250 gm
  • Bananas (mashed) :- 4
  • Egg (well beaten) :- 1
  • Sugar :- 75 gm
  • Baking powder :- ¼ tsp
  • Cardamom powder :- 2 gm
  • Oil :- 50 gm
  • Milk :- 1-1/2 glass


TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Spatula
  • Frying pan
  • Serving dish


PREPARATION METHOD

  • In well beaten egg, put sugar, bananas and milk. (You can also use blender for mixing).
  • In a bowl, combine all purpose flour and banana mixture. Mix well to prepare the dosa batter.
  • Put baking powder and cardamom powder to the prepared batter. Mix well.
  • Heat a pan and spread little oil over it.
  • Pour a spoonful of dosa batter and spread it in circular shape. Fry each side till it turns golden brown.
  • Serve hot.

    Serving Suggestions

      Serve hot with chutney or sambar.


    WATERMELON DOSA


    Watermelon-dosa


    A great combination of watermelon and dosa batter for a unique south Indian treat. 


    INGREDIENTS

    • Par boiled rice (soak in water for 2 hrs) - 1-1/2 cup
    • Scraped coconut - ½ cup
    • Salt - To taste
    • Melon pieces (only white rind portion, pureed) - 1 cup


    TOOLS REQUIRED

    • Spatula
    • Frying pan
    • Serving dish

    PREPARATION METHOD

    • Grind together the melon puree, coconut and soaked rice into a smooth batter. The consistency of batter should be slightly thick.
    • Put salt to the prepared batter and stir well.
    • Heat pan over medium heat and pour a ladle full of prepared batter at the center and then spread it in a round shape.
    • Put a tsp of oil and cook each side.
    • Serve hot.

      Serving Suggestions

        Serve hot with tomato-onion chutney or sambar or pickle.


      SABUDANA DOSA


      Sabudana-dosa


      Sabudana dosa tastes yummy and you can enjoy as a snack or a meal by itself. 

      INGREDIENTS

      • Sago/sabudana (soak in yogurt for 6 hrs and pour water if necessary) :- ½ cup
      • Yogurt :- 1-1/4 cup
      • Red chilies (remove stems, washed and chopped) :- 3 tbsp
      • Rice flour :- 3 tbsp
      • Cumin seeds :- ½ tsp
      • Salt :- To taste
      • Cilantro leaves (washed and chopped) :- Few springs


      TOOLS REQUIRED

      • Spatula
      • Pan
      • Serving dish


      PREPARATION METHOD

      • In a bowl, combine soaked sabudana, green chilies, rice flour, cumin seeds, salt and cilantro.
      • Pour about 1-1/4 cup of water and prepare a dosa batter.
      • Heat a pan over medium flame and then spread quarter tsp. of oil on it using a spoon.
      • Pour a big ladle of dosa batter on a hot pan and spread into circles. Fry until lower side begins to turn golden brown.
      • Put little oil on dosa and flip it.
      • Cook the other side on medium flame for 1 minute.
      • Repeat the similar procedure with leftover dosa batter.
      • Serve hot.

        Serving Suggestions

          Serve Sabudana dosa with chutney or pickle.


        MIXED FLOUR DOSA


        Mixed-flour-dosa


        Mix flour dosais a healthy alternative to the normal dosa. 


        INGREDIENTS

        • Small rava :- 1 cupWheat flour :- ½ cup
        • Rice flour :- ½ cup
        • All purpose flour :- ½ cup
        • Medium onion (chopped) :- 1
        • Salt :- To taste
        • Green chilies (chopped) :- 4
        • Coconut (grated) :- 1
        • Coriander leaves (chopped) :- 6 strands
        • Curry leaves (chopped) :- 5
        • Ghee/oil


        TOOLS REQUIRED

        • Spatula
        • Pan
        • Serving dish


        PREPARATION 

        • In a bowl, combine all the flours together to prepare a dosa batter using water.
        • Add all the chopped ingredients along with salt and coconut. Mix well with batter.
        • Heat a pan and spread little oil over it.
        • Pour a spoonful of batter and then spread it in round shape.
        • Put ghee/oil on top of dosa and cook for about one minute over medium heat.
        • Flip it and cook the other side. Then take out in a plate.
        • Repeat the same process with the remaining batter.
        • Serve hot.

          Serving Suggestions

            Serve hot with chutney or pickle or sambar.


          BREAD DOSA


          Bread-dosa

          Enjoy this delicious combination of dosa and bread for a quick snack. 

          INGREDIENTS

          • Bread slices :- 4
          • Green chilies (chopped) :- 2
          • Dosa batter :- 1 cup
          • Onion (chopped) :- 1
          • Coriander leaves (chopped) :- Few
          • Salt :- To taste
          • Oil

          TOOLS REQUIRED

          • Spatula
          • Pan
          • Serving dish

          PREPARATION METHOD

          • Put onions, coriander leaves and green chilies to the dosa batter. Mix well.
          • Heat a pan and spread little oil over it.
          • Dip the slices of bread in the dosa batter and put it on a hot pan.
          • Spread little oil around the bread cut and cook until it turns golden brown on each side.
          • Take it on a serving plate and serve immediately.

              Serve hot with chutney or pickle.


            SWEET CORN DOSA



            Sweet-Corn-dosa



            Sweet corn dosa is a delicious recipe quick to prepare for snack or meal. 


            INGREDIENTS

            • Sona masoori rice (washed and soaked in water for 6 hrs) :- 2 cup
            • Sweet corn seeds :- ½ cup
            • Salt :- To taste
            • Poha :- ¼ cup
            • Ghee/oil


            TOOLS REQUIRED

            • Spatula
            • Frying pan
            • Serving dish


            PREPARATION METHOD


            • Grind poha, corn seeds, soaked rice and required quantity of water till smooth to prepare a dosa batter.
            • Put salt to it and thoroughly mix.
            • Heat the pan and spread little oil.
            • Now pour a spoonful of batter at the middle and spread it with the back of a spoon.
            • Cook covered for 1 minute over medium flame.
            • Remove the lid and spread little oil on top of dosa.
            • Flip it and cook for another minute.
            • Serve hot.

                Serve hot with chutney or sambar.

              BRINJAL DOSA

              Brinjal-Dosa

              Brinjal Dosa makes a healthy breakfast or snack time recipe.

              INGREDIENTS

              • Brinjals (sliced):- 2
              • Dry coconut:- 2 tbsp
              • Uncooked rice (soak overnight):- 1 cup\
              • Dried red chilies:- 2
              • Cumin seeds:- 1 tsp
              • Brown sugar/jaggery:- 1 tbsp
              • Salt:- To taste
              • Tamarind:- 1 tsp


              TOOLS REQUIRED

              • Spatula
              • Pan
              • Serving dish


              PREPARATION METHOD

              • Blend rice, red chilies, dry coconut, jaggery/brown sugar, jeera, salt and tamarind.
              • Put the brinjal slices in a bowl filled with water.
              • Heat a pan and spread little oil on it. Arrange the brinjal slices.
              • Pour the prepared dosa batter on a pan and spread evenly.
              • Spread another tbsp of oil and cook covered.
              • Remove the lid and flip the dosa. Cook the other side.
              • Serve hot.

                Serving Suggestions

                  Serve hot with or without chutney.

                SAGO DOSA

                INGREDIENTS

                • 1 cups brown rice (or white raw rice)
                • 1/3 cup sago/ tapioca (sabudana)
                • 1/3 cup flattened rice (thick poha)
                • 1/3 cup cooked brown rice
                • Salt to taste
                • 2 green chillies chopped
                • A few drops of sesame oil


                PREPARATION METHOD



                • Just before grinding, wash and drain the flattened rice and keep aside. Grind the rice until smooth adding water as required. It should be free falling but not runny. Grind the sago, cooked rice, chillies and flattened rice together until very smooth. Add water as required but keep this mixture thicker than the ground rice. Dono ground mixtures ko mix karo and add salt to taste and mix well. Heat the tawa/griddle/flat pan on medium heat and when it is hot pour a ladle full of this batter in the centre and spread quickly into a thin circle as possible.
                • Add a few drops of sesame oil on top and let it cook. Flip over and cook the other side too.



                CUCUMBER DOSA

                Cucumber-Dosa

                Cucumber Dosa is a nutritious dosa made up of cucumber which helps to reduce acidity. 


                INGREDIENTS

                • Rice (soak in water for 4 hrs.):-1 cup
                • Cucumber (peeled and chopped into big cuts):-1
                • Coconut :-1 cup
                • Turmeric powder :-½ tsp.
                • Green chilies :-4
                • Salt to taste :-To taste
                • Oil for roasting

                TOOLS REQUIRED

                • Spatula
                • Medium-sized bowl
                • Frying pan
                • Blender

                PREPARATION METHOD

                • Sieve the soaked rice and blend it along with green chilies, cucumber, salt, turmeric powder and coconut to a semi-thick batter using blender.
                • First heat and then spread a little oil in a griddle.
                • Now pour a ladla full of prepared batter and then spread in circle.
                • Sprinkle little oil on top and roast gently on both sides.
                • Serve hot.

                    Serve hot with any chutney/sauce/dahi or side dish of your choice.
